1962 Appointment of first full time secretary Mrs S.E. Abbott (later Elliot).
1963 First official Dorper Club: Hopetown Dorper Club
1963 Regional division of Inspectors. First Inspectors and Judges day at De Aar.
1964 Affiliation of White Dorpers to Dorper Breeders' Society
1964 Performance Testing Scheme launched
1966 First white Dorper National Championship Show at Kenhardt. First Dorper News: Editor S.W. Bosman
1967 Rhodesian breeders secede and form their own association: Dorper Sheep Breeders Association of Central Africa.
1971 Coming of Age of the Dorper Breeders' Society - celebrated at Grootfontein, Middelburg E.G.
1974 Doctor's Thesis Dr. Q.P. Campbell: a Study of Breeding Problems in Dorper Sheep.
1975 First 25 years of the Society's existence celebrated at De Aar.
1977 Affiliate to S.A. Stud Book Association.
1979 Legal status granted to the Society.
1980 Thirty years existence celebrated at Grootfontein, Middelburg E.C.
1982 First combined Dorper and White Dorper National Championship Show: Record prices
1984 Second World Congress and Small Stock Tour: Dorper is named "Africa Sheep" and lamb meat quality is praised. Freezing of semen and extensive artificial insemination became possible.
1985 Dorper offices bought at Middelburg. Computer acquired to streamline administration. First official (Club) sale of Performance Tested Rams at Colesberg: E.P. Dorper Club. Started active participation with Stud Book. Appointment of part time Liaison Officer: R.G. Rayner
1986 National Carcass Competition: 1st Prize Group Class 2nd Prize Individual Carcass
1987 DORPER SHEEP BREED proclaimed under the Stock Improvement Act. Appointment of R.G. Rayner as Liaison Officer on full-time basis until 1989 First National Sale at Upington. National Carcass Competition 1st & 2nd Prize Group Class 1st & 3rd Prize individual carcass
1988 Official Sales R4 million. National Sales over R1 million. Record entry of 1200 Dorpers at National Championship Show - Bloemfontein.
1990 1000 Animals entered per National Show became the norm in 1990, 1992,1994 and 1996. The largest small stock show in the world. 40th Anniversary celebrated at Grootfontein Agricultural College, Middelburg E.C. International Expo at Bloemfontein, where the Dorper breed came into its own. In the carcass competition 120 entrants entered 1200 animals of all breeds of which 600 were slaughtered. The Dorpers won 8 of the first places.
